Inspired by the Batla House encounter case that took place in 2008, the film stars John Abraham in the lead role of a police officer named Sanjay Kumar Yadav, inspired by Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, the officer who played a crucial role in the encounter. The film showcases the encounter and its aftermath, along with Sanjay Kumar's struggle to prove the encounter wasn't a fake one while dealing with posttraumatic stress disorder.
